The famous Spurgin-Giovanine roadster touches the El Mirage dirt for the first time in nearly 70 years after a recently completed restoration. Owner Ernie Nagamatsu, alongside Curt Giovanine and Jimmy Shine shed some light on the history of the car, its monumental achievements and what went into restoring it.

Ernie Nagamatsu raced his 1959 "Junkyard Dog" vintage race car at the Brian Redman International Challenge at Road America in July 1999. The car was built by Max and Ina Balchowsky at Hollywood Motors. Ernie is caretaker of this legendary race car, and this interview details its history from 1959 to 1974.

Ernie talks us through his love for the Australian culture at Phillip Island and the story of his exploding Buick Nailhead engine.
